Woods Bagot and the Evolved Design: Crafting The Future of Workspaces
Sculpting a luxurious nexus between function and form, global architecture studio Woods Bagot delivered one of Australia’s most significant office design projects – 6 Parramatta Square (6PSQ) in Melbourne, Victoria. With a keen eye for aesthetics and an unyielding commitment to innovation, Woods Bagot’s 6PSQ is a testament to the company’s multi-authorship approach, transforming the Australian architectural landscape.
The 15 levels of 6PSQ, a testament to adaptability and sustainability, epitomises a future-focused workplace. Navigating the disruption caused by COVID-19 during the design and construction phases, Woods Bagot’s design empowers change, collaboration, and communication and aims to attract the best talent in the market. The Melbourne architecture studio’s vision turned into reality is an evolution for a more agile and hybrid workforce, enhancing the functionality of the physical office space and fostering a strong culture and connection.
Integral to this captivating workspace is the incorporation of LEN’s Softscape Lounge, a modular lounge that adds an element of luxury and comfort. The modular lounge, an embodiment of versatility, complements the fluid nature of the evolving workspace while fostering collaboration and secluded focus. The mobile, reconfigurable, and adaptable nature of the modular lounge offers a softer and more intuitive environment that captures the essence of the modern workspace.
This modular lounge, aligned with the energy of the office, accentuates the project narrative of an energised’ waters edge’ inspired by the meandering Parramatta river. Nestled in the heart of the vibrant Parramatta Square precinct, the design integrates the modular lounge seamlessly within the site, offering spaces for interaction, gathering, and mindfulness. The Softscape modular lounge, with its mobile and modular design, supports a diverse and inclusive environment, catering to all users while adding a touch of luxury and comfort.
6PSQ aims to reduce environmental footprints and promote efficient workspaces. The design scored 5.5 stars NABERS Energy tenant rating and a 6-star Green Star rating, highlighting the project’s sustainability and compliance with the NSW Government Resource Efficiency Policy. The modular lounge, part of this sustainable solution, is a testament to the design’s ability to blend aesthetics, function and environmental consciousness seamlessly.
The 6PSQ, an emblem of architectural excellence, echoes the NSW Government’s ‘Hub Strategy’. It features a hybrid work design that promotes adaptability and flexibility to respond to change. The modular lounge supports this vision by providing settings that enable fluctuations within the building occupation and designing for the new hybrid way of working. It offers a welcoming space for all employees and visitors, supporting their needs and preferences. This modern workspace serves as an office space and a dedicated Government Touchdown facility, connecting 5000sqm of meeting, training and touchdown space for government employees and their partners.
