Revolutionary Design: Donovan Payne Architects and NBRS Create Art and Aquatic Haven in Bay Pavilions

Donovan Payne Architects and NBRS have collaborated to design an extraordinary community-based building, the Bay Pavilions Art + Aquatic Centre, located in Batemans Bay, NSW. The two pavilions, one for aquatic and the other for performance functions, are connected by a streamlined central building that houses reception, foyer, and administration areas.

Donovan Payne Architects has a reputation for community-based design and commercial infrastructure, and their expertise in this area was invaluable when designing the Bay Pavilions Art + Aquatic Centre. The firm’s commitment to sustainability and creating buildings that foster connectivity between people, places, and the natural environment is evident in every aspect of this new facility.

NBRS, on the other hand, is known for its commitment to excellence in design and innovation in built environments. The firm drew on its research and insights to create stronger connections between people and place when designing the Bay Pavilions Art + Aquatic Centre. The result is a building that is both functional and visually stunning.

The Bay Pavilions project is a 5-star green star development that symbolizes the region’s natural beauty with its “water” design theme, driven by the local community’s cultural, physical, and historical contexts. The facility is an iconic gateway, welcoming visitors with a strong sense of place and a new social hub for play, performance, and expression.

One of the most notable features of the Bay Pavilions Art + Aquatic Centre is the use of LEN’s Softscape collection. The Softscape collection is a perfect addition to the building, adding an extra layer of elegance and sophistication to the already impressive design. The Softscape Lounge supports collaboration and the need for secluded focus, encouraging people to work, communicate, and connect in a comfortable and inviting space. The muted colours of the Softscape Lounge used in the space blend well with the surrounding artwork.

Another notable feature used in the Bay Pavilions Art + Aquatic Centre is LEN’s Bauhaus collection. This collection features modular furniture that is both Australian designed and Australian made, and it perfectly complements the overall aesthetic of the building. The Bauhaus Grid Lounges and ottomans used in the space are a mix of vibrant and muted colours situated in different parts to complement the surrounding architecture and artwork. The Bauhaus collection is both versatile and sumptuous, allowing it to blend seamlessly with the other design elements in the facility.

The Bay Pavilions Art and Aquatic Centre is a significant evolution in the region, providing access to an extensive selection of insights and experiences. The space is an extraordinary addition to the Eurobodalla Shire, perfectly balancing the natural environment and human-made structures.

Donovan Payne Architects and NBRS have created an exceptional community-based building, the Bay Pavilions Art + Aquatic Centre. The Softscape and Bauhaus collections used in the space enhance its sophistication, elevating its elegance and comfort to an extraordinary level. The space exemplifies how innovation, sustainability, and design can create a unique built environment.
