Suncorp Sydney Headquarters
Geyer Architects Future-Proofs Suncorp Sydney Headquarters
Suncorp Sydney Headquarters, designed by Geyer, features a versatile and organic interior scheme. Suncorp, a socially and environmentally responsible financial services provider, came to Geyer with a brief to design a workplace that would meet the company’s current and future needs. Geyer created a flexible and adaptable interior design scheme that met the needs of the current occupants without preemptively deciding what those occupants would want in the future. Geyer advocated a “design to 80%” philosophy in the workplace, leaving some design aspects incomplete to make room for future adjustments. Geyer was pleasantly surprised by the concept, a welcome change from the usual polished and perfect designs sought by large corporations.
Geyer planned four pivotal levels to entice Suncorp staff to explore the many office layouts on each floor. Between the two ‘typical’ work floors (levels 7 and 15), two ‘community floors’ can be used for larger gatherings or as an alternative to holding meetings elsewhere. Three adjacent rooms can be combined into one larger conference room, and large boardrooms can be divided into several smaller rooms. Since most office furniture is easily rearranged, workers are encouraged to get up and move around the office.
Geyer selected the Softscape collection to support collaboration and the need for secluded focus to allow employees could work, communicate and connect in a softer and more intuitive environment. As part of the broader Softscape collection, our lounges allowed for a level of flexibility within the interior settings of the new Suncorp HQ, making it a truly versatile and dynamic space.
Suncorp’s Sydney headquarters, designed by Geyer, is a beautiful reflection of the company’s commitment to investing in the future and safeguarding what matters. For over a century, the firm’s mission has been to serve as a model of responsible and sustainable financial services, bringing success to its clients, employees, stockholders, and communities. Geyer has done an excellent job creating a work environment that reflects Suncorp’s core beliefs and long-term goals.
