2018 Good Design Award

Recognizing the merits of the design and development behind the product, the Botanical planter screen for LEN by Helen Kontouris, has been awarded the 2018 Good Design Award in the Furniture and Lighting category. Celebrating 60 years this year, Good Design Australia is committed to promoting the importance of design-led innovation to business, industry, government and the general public and the overall prosperity of Australia. Below, we look into the design narrative behind the Stylecraft awarded product recognised in the 2018 Good Design Awards. Congratulations to all winners, with a special mention to Helen Kontouris for her gold award-winning Botanical Planter.

Helen Kontouris designed these botanical planter screens in recognition of the benefits of greenery within urban environments. Constructed with hidden castor wheels for increased mobility, the screens can be used indoors or outdoors, in domestic settings or as a feature in hospitality, workplace or education fit-outs. Resembling the skeletal structure of a leaf, the models are named after native plants reflecting Kontouris’ appreciation of Australian flora.
