Architecture, an award-winning Australian architectural practice, has recently designed the Queenscliff Ferry Terminal, a landmark building that improves the passenger capacity and efficiency of the ferry operation, the quality of the passenger experience, and the range of facilities on offer. Working with landscape design by Tract, the new facility enhances safety and amenity for the pedestrians and motorists who use the ferry service, forming a gateway to Geelong, the Bellarine Peninsula, and the Great Ocean Road.
facility, which includes a cafe, restaurant, and sitting area for passengers, was opened prematurely in December 2022 to cater to summer holiday visitors. Completed in 2023, the new public boardwalk and gantry have transformed the ferry terminal into an exceptional destination celebrating the passage between Queenscliff and Sorrento.
The busiest passenger ferry in Australia, it carries over 250,000 vehicles and 960,000 people annually.
As part of this transformative project, F2 Architecture has incorporated the Softscape Collection, consisting of the Softscape Lounges, Softscape Stools, and Pebble to enhance the passenger experience. The Softscape Collection, an Australian-designed and made furniture series, adds an extra dimension to the terminal’s sophisticated and luxurious design palette.
Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, the Softscape Collection balances comfort and style perfectly. The collection incorporates bright and dark blue variations that blend and complement the overall theme and view of the space. The Softscape Lounges create a comfortable, relaxing, and experiential atmosphere that encourages emotional connections and reflects F2 Architecture’s philosophy of enhancing people’s lives through architecture. The Softscape Stools and Pebble Ottomans, on the other hand, feature contrasting textures and contours, amplifying the unique and versatile elements of the collection.ย
